History
IPS has been operating since 1980. The demand for IMPs began in the mid-1970s when the “gas crunch” caused gasoline prices to take a sharp increase from around 50 cents per gallon to $1.00 or more.
Arnold Andrews, a former vice president of Stran-Steel and veteran of the metal building industry, was involved in a study that showed a dramatic increase in electrical and natural gas costs causing heating and cooling costs to rise considerably. At the same time, federal and state governments were demanding more energy efficiency for buildings.
In 1980, Andrews founded Insulated Panel Systems. The continued success of the company and growth in the industry had Carlisle Corporation interested. In January 1993, they purchased IPS and changed the name to Carlisle Engineered Metals.

As the economy continued to cycle, NCI acquired the new Carlisle company in February 1997 as they recognized the potential for an IMP manufacturer in the industry, giving IPS the opportunity to expand our product line and customer base through its extensive network of companies. NCI reinstated its original name and returned Andrews as General Manager.
In early 2010, IPS opened a new manufacturing facility in Jackson, Miss. With state-of-the-art technology, IPS’ new continuous line nearly quadruples the manufacturing capacity compared to our past processes.
Today, IPS remains a leading manufacturer and supplier of insulated metal panels. Operating under NCI’s Components division and under the direction of Kevin Conlin, General Manager of IPS, the company has been able to expand our capabilities and outreach to customers.
